No no no no no no YES writing month

Ah, yes, November is here again, bringing with it National Novel Writing Month, the occasion that every writer apparently loves to hate.

Right now, thousands of people are happily beavering away on their latest creation, while the usual suspects are snarking away with predictable fury. I actually enjoy most of the snark – Sean Lindsay has declared “National No Writing Month” over at 101 Reasons To Stop Writing, and posted a couple more demotivators on the subject.

A confession – I did take the challenge one year (two years ago I think? damn you, brain) but my idea petered out. Not that I had much of an idea to start with – or indeed, that I can remember.

Now that I have a better idea of what it takes to get a novel written (talent, dedication, all that hippy rubbish) I’m not going to try and bang something out this month. I am, however, attempting a writing challenge of a sort. I’ll announce it shortly, and keep you posted. For now, I need to get to work *yawn*.
