The show must go on

…and we’re back, more or less. Am I quoting Queen, or Pink Floyd? I’m not sure.
I had a Bad Day yesterday and crashed. Details are better left to the special-friends LJ filter than aired in public. I’m on my way back – that’ll do for now.
I made it to work and am coping with the sort of Special Week that a random public holiday brings (i.e. all the Clever People take the rest of the week off, leaving their Less Clever Comrades in charge). What does that make me, I wonder?
I’m a little despondent about the whole writing business. Going over my stats, it seems the more I write, the fewer people actually read it, which bemuses me. The most recent bump in my stats revolves around a piece that doesn’t actually exist any more, Blogpulse and the assorted wayback machines be damned. Maybe I should just keep to amusing household stories and links to lolcats. I don’t know.
Monday night’s “Singstar like you mean it“ gathering at The Restaurant was fun, I have to admit. Highlights from the night -
- I re-branded Singstar Rock Ballads “Singstar 80’s Shame And Bands That Sound Like Nickelback”. So much denim. So much big hair. Why so much Mr Mister?
- Any song can be improved by singing in a Russian accent. Failing that, a Wookie impression will suffice.
- So many high parts! I don’t think anyone needs to hear my Freddie Mercury impression again.
- I was introduced to the wonder that is Nina Hagen.
- A note to the Gods of the Internets. Nina Hagen =/= Nena =/= Nina Hartley. OK?
It was a small group, but a very pleasant one. Hugs were given, sorely needed and gratefully accepted. In the end, Da Boyz were beaten by Team Boobs the ladies, and accepted defeat gracefully. We had to leave relatively early, as Madam had to work yesterday, but it was still very good to get out of the house and see people.
*sigh* Back to work, I suppose. Madam is coming to pick me up this evening, because she is wonderful and loves me. This is a Very Good Thing.
